Final Project progress 2

Image
Been making good progress. More sanding, and filling again yesterday. Used sandpaper of 220, all the way to 600.

Final Project Progress 1

Image
I got my print back, it came back perfect, see last photo. when I got home I covered it in bondo, least the parts that were easier to get at, when I go home I will begin sanding it, I will finish it like I was finishing one of my cosplay pieces, with the goal of getting a glass smooth finish.

Finishing project 2

Image
After filling, I applied a layer of krylon metallic silver onto it, after it dried, I applied liquid latex called humbrol maskol onto the piece to mask certain areas, before spraying a coat of krylon gloss blue onto it. I then peeled the latex off the heart to fully reveal the chipped layer effect.

Finishing project 1

Image
This blog shows me finishing one of my iron heart trophies, and by finishing just eliminating print lines with two coats of paint. I first sprayed a layer of filler primer onto the print, sanded it with 120 sand paper, then took a layer of bondo spot putty, covered the piece, sanded it with 220 sand paper. then after sanding, applied another coat of filler, and sanded it with 320 grit of sand paper.

Final project update.

The other day I began printing the plaque, it wasn't as big as I wouldve liked, but it's still something, on Sunday I plan on going in and taking a look at it.

Final Project Concept

Image
For my final assignment, I decided I will be making a plaque off of an iron heart design, with my family name modeled within it, this is what it looks like so far, It will be large enough to be hung on a wall, and I will be finishing it with my families crest colors.

Personal project 6

Image
After the failures I printed more of the first iron heart designs, they were smaller ones that I may end up using for decorations or some sorts.

Personal project 5 (Failures)

Image
I began printing some more of a design I had done, but these ones came out as all mostly failures. They were too hollow and brittle, not sure what happened during the printing process.  They were not usable to any extent.

Personal project 4

Image
Again began experimenting, along with making a rebel rank badge as well.  I made the dots detachable, so that after finishing they could be glued.

Personal project 3.

Image
I began experimenting with some different sizes and designs of iron hearts  These ones came out good.

Warhammer helmet.

Image
Before all the iron hearts, I made an object that was meant to be a mix of Mando and Warhammer in a sense.  Originally was supposed to have a rangefinder, but didn't print.

Personal projects 2

Image
After the first badge and iron hearts, I began making more, experimenting with different sizes.  they all came out great, the goal was to find a good size that can be used as trophies.

Personal Projects.

After the midterm, I began designing my first iron hearts and greeblies.  I designed a badge and three iron hearts of unique design, with those two I plan on finishing.

Midterm presentation blog

Image
For my mid term presentation, I went over everything I modeled and made. I had modeled a ring, a dice, a  helmet, and a caterpillar, the two successful prints of those being the dice and the helmet.

organic modeling

For the organic modeling, I modeled a caterpillar.  Unfortunately was not Able to get it printed, because every time I went in, the lab was being used or the files weren't working.
